Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful clients, we had some of our most successful charity drives ever this Fall & Winter. Here are some highlights of the charities you have helped to support this year and a couple of photos for you to enjoy!
In Maryland, BOMA Baltimore and Charm City Concierge partnered for a School Supply Drive. This drive benefited Baltimore area non-profits that house and aid children in need. In 2012 we collected an amazing $8,000 in School Supplies. In DC & Virginia donations were distributed to area children in need through Facets, an organization dedicated to helping parents, children and individuals who suffer from the effects of poverty.
Our next drive was for Coats and other warmth items. In Maryland, these items were donated to The Helping Up Mission. They are both an overnight shelter and a destination for long-term addiction recovery that provides more than 900 meals daily and shelters more than 500 men each night. The donations contribute to the 150,000 items they distribute annually. In DC & Virginia, these items were donated to The Military Order of the Purple Heart. A veteran service organizations comprised entirely of combat veterans who were wounded serving our country.
As our food drive begun this year, Hurricane Sandy was hitting the East Coast, leaving unfathomable damage to New Jersey and New York. We had the opportunity through one of our relationships to collect donations that would be personally taken directly to those in need and jumped at the opportunity to contribute. The outpouring from our clients was amazing and 10 truckloads of donations were received, valued at an estimated $250,000 in all!! We collected food, household items, pet food, clothing, baby formula, diapers, tools, toiletries, blankets, and much more. Only a small portion was housed in our Baltimore office and there was literally no room to walk on our first floor, it was filled to the brim with donations!
A large amount of food was also collected and donated to Moveable Feast in a partnership with BOMA Baltimore. Moveable Feast is an outstanding organization that provides nutritious foods and other services in order to preserve quality of life for people with life-threatening conditions.
Our next drive was Treats for Troops! We collected leftover Halloween Candy and donated the hundreds of pounds of candy to Treats for Troops. The organization packages the candy into care packages for deployed U.S. Military Troops!
In December we held our toy drives! We had a huge response and the organizations were thrilled with the donations. In Maryland, we partnered with Ray Rice’s foundation and donations were given to local Baltimore families and children. In DC/VA our donations went to PG County native Brian Westbrook’s charity, Brian’s Blessings. Over 1,000 toys were donated in all.
We cannot thank our clients enough for all of your generous donations! As you can see above, when we pull together the impact is significant and we are able to help so many in need. Looking forward to another successful 2013.
