Maryland Themed Preakness Dessert

Preakness week is here and we’re busy planning a festive Maryland themed affair! Not only are we celebrating having the second jewel of the Triple Crown in our home state but we’re cheering on Orb, the winner of the Kentucky Derby, whose owners are from Baltimore County! In honor of all this Maryland Pride we created a delicious dessert using Baltimore’s very own BERGER COOKIES! It’s a treat that’s sure to make any Baltimorean proud!

Lemon Raspberry Berger Cookie Trifle
Recipe By: Molly Neifeld
1-2 Packages of Berger Cookies, chopped
Lemon Pudding
Raspberry Sauce
Homemade Whipped Cream

Chop the Berger cookies into equal size pieces that match the size of your container. We used small dessert glasses so the pieces were pretty small. Set aside until you’re ready to use.

Prepare the Lemon pudding according to the package. Set aside until you’re ready to use.

Make the whipped cream with a small amount of powdered sugar. The cookies are very sweet so you don’t have to have an overload of sugar. Set aside until ready to use.

To make the raspberry sauce, combine the frozen raspberries in a small sauce pan and heat until the berries start to break down. You can add a little sugar to the sauce if you feel it’s necessary. No more than 1 Tablespoon since the tangy of the berries helps to balance this dessert.

To assemble the trifle, layer the chopped Berger cookies, lemon pudding, raspberry sauce and whipped cream. Create as many layers as your dish will allow. Top the finished trifle with any remaining cookies! Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

Holiday How-To: Sweet Gift in a Jar

As a company filled with creative concierges, we love a good Do It Yourself project, so when the holiday season rolls around we get busy crafting up holiday decor for our office, homes and parties, as  well as holiday gifts for our friends, coworkers and clients. We will be doing a series of videos to show you how simple and fun some of these can be. DIY crafts can seem overwhelming at first, so we have broken down some of our favorite simple ones for you!

Hot Chocolate in a Jar

Ingredients

1 cup powdered milk

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chocolate chips

1/2 cup crushed peppermint candy (we used Andes Peppermint Chips)

1 cup miniature marshmallows

Other ingredients based on your favorites!

Preparation

Layer powdered milk, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, chocolate chips, peppermint candy and marshmallows. Decorate jar with your choice of stickers, ribbons, labels, etc. We used Avery full sheet label paper (Avery 5353) to print our labels then cut them out. You could also do regular mailing labels with would fit about 12-30/page depending on the size and you won’t need to cut them out! You could also do a handwritten note, punch a hole and tie it to the ribbon around the top!

We hope you enjoy our videos and they help you get through the hectic holiday season with a smile!
