H Street Movemberfest
The Queen Vic and The Big Board
H Street NE

If you see a lot of sketchy mustaches in the next few days, it’s because we’re in the early stages of Movember, a month-long event during which men grow mustaches to raise money for (and awareness about) male cancer. You’ll probably spot more than a few on H Street on Saturday, as the H Street Movemberfest offers food and drink specials at 14 establishments with the purchase of a special Movember wristband. From 1 to 9 p.m., you can get $3 beers at H Street Country Club; $4 drafts at the Argonaut; 10 percent off everything at the Argonaut, Queen Vic or Shawafel; and 30 percent off meals at Inspire BBQ. (There’s an afterparty at the Rock & Roll Hotel with $3 beers beginning at 9 p.m.) All money raised goes directly to Livestrong and the Prostate Cancer Foundation; buy tickets in advance and you’ll be entered into a raffle for prizes from local merchants.

DC Beerathon

Some are less appealing (Heineken at Buffalo Billiards, Peroni at Darlington House, Blue Moon at Ben’s Next Door). Our advice, if you’re taking on this challenge: Check out the map, pick the beers you want to try and go to those bars so you don’t find yourself sipping Sol at Alero.
