Fireworks begin at dark, usually around 9:15 p.m. They are launched from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and light up the sky over the Washington Monument.

Independence Day at Mount Vernon

An American Celebration at Mount Vernon treats visitors to spectacular smoke fireworks in patriotic colors fired over the Potomac River! This Independence Day event also includes reenactments, military ceremonies, and more. It is included in regular Estate admission: adults are $17, children ages 6-11 are $8 and children under 5 are admitted free.

The annual event includes children’s activities, a concert performed by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, birthday cake and a fireworks extravaganza. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic. Food and beverages will also be available for purchase.
