After you’ve enjoyed your time at the orchards and farms, it’s time to transform your apples and pumpkins into delicious creations!

One of the easiest ways to use your fresh picked apples is to make crock pot apple butter. You can just sit back and relax while your slow cooker does all the work. You can make a large batch and use it for gifts for Thanksgiving too!

Crock Pot Apple Butter

  • 6 apples (use just about any kind of apples for this recipe)
  • 1 1/2 cups apple cider (or apple juice)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugarapple-butter
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  1. Peel, core and chop apples, add to slow cooker.
  2. Add cider/juice, sugar and spices.
  3. Cook on high until bubbly.
  4. Reduce heat to low and cook 6-8 hours, stirring every hour. When done, the apple butter will have thickened and be a deep brown color.
  5. For a smoother texture, blend to break down any remaining chunks of apple. I use a handheld emulsifier or blender to achieve a smoother texture after cooking.
  6. If planning to store your apple butter or use as a gift, can it in a boiling water bath.
  7. Without canning, keep refrigerated and use within a month or two.

While you’re relaxing and waiting for your apple butter, here’s how you can enjoy a nice hot cup of Pumpkin Spiced Latte at home!

Pumpkin Spiced Latte

  • 1 Cup of Milkpumpkin latte
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons of Pumpkin Puree
  • 1 teaspoon of Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Pumpkin Pie Spice
  • 2 Shots of Espresso
  • Pinch of Cinnamon
  • Whipped Cream

  1. In a sauce pan boil the milk, once the milk comes to a boil add pumpkin puree and stir on low heat.
  2. Add sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and espresso into a mug.
  3. Once the milk and pumpkin puree comes to a boil, pour into the mug; add a healthy portion of whipped cream and a pinch of cinnamon on top.
