Looking for something with a bit more meaning to give as a gift this holiday season? We’ve pulled a handful of great ideas that will have lasting impact both here and around the world! Consider gifting or donating to one of these great causes this holiday season.
Help Kids be the CEOs of their future
The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) provides programs that inspire at-risk young people to stay in school, recognize business opportunities, and plan for successful futures.
The U.S. is experiencing a drop-out crisis. Every 29 seconds an American youth drops out of high school – that’s 7,000 young people per day or 1.2 million each year. One-third of all high school students, and nearly half of all African American and Latino youth, do not graduate. Over 80% of young people say they would not have dropped out if school were more relevant to real life. NFTE meets that need, providing life-applicable learning that engages young people and keeps them in school.
Your donation to NFTE will help support all entrepreneurship class supplies for these at-risk students.
Gift of a Goat
Did you ever think your gift could literally be the gift that keeps on giving? Through Heifer International, gifts for families around the world can turn into vital nourishment, steady income and improved crop management & yield.
DC’s City Dogs Rescue was formed to rescue adoptable dogs in overcrowded and high-kill shelters, where resources are severely limited. By finding these dogs permanent and loving homes in the DC metropolitan area, we can enrich lives — both human and canine. Help in any capacity — through volunteering, fostering, adopting, sponsoring and/or donating is always welcome.
City Dogs Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is not a “shelter.” They are a network of volunteers (with will full-time jobs) who foster dogs with volunteer families and donated boarding facilities. Donations can specifically tied to sponsoring a specific dog, supplies or medical care.
And, if you are looking to add a four-legged friend to your family this season, CDR has an updated list of all dogs available for adoption.
For those outside of the DC area, we encourage you to visit your local humane society of SPCA this holiday season.

Find a Cure
In October, Charm City Concierge formed a team and lead fundraising efforts in support of CureSearch—a national non-profit foundation that accelerates the cure for children’s cancer by driving innovation, eliminating research barriers and solving the field’s most challenging problems. Every 40 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer. That’s 36 children a day.
CureSearch’s newest campaign, Every Now, will share 36 donation and awareness challenges, which represent the 36 children diagnosed with cancer every day.
Donate in honor or in memory of a loved one to ensure that children everywhere can enjoy Christmases & birthdays to come!
