With the extra hour of sunlight thanks to daylight savings, this weekend is the perfect chance to get out and experience one of the great events the DMV has to offer! From St Patrick’s Day festivities to the National Marathon there really is something for everyone!

National Marathon rock and roll run

The 26.2 mile race begins at RFK Stadium and provides runners and spectators with views of more than monuments and the National Mall. It highlights the best of Washington, DC’s neighborhoods, featuring six of the city’s eight wards, including portions run through the heart of Adams Morgan, dynamic Kalorama, and beautiful Poplar Point.

Health and Fitness Expo

The event features more than 50 exhibitors displaying the latest running shoes and apparel, nutritional information and fitness trends.

Washington DC Saint Patrick’s Day Paradest patricks day parade
Constitution Ave, 7th to 17th Streets NW
Time: Sunday noon to 3pm
This two-and-a-half hour special event, known as the Nation’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, will include floats, marching bands, pipe bands, military, police, and fire departments. Local Irish pubs will sponsor parade parties featuring Irish musicians, dancers and signers. St. Patrick’s Day is a family day, bringing people together to share the culture of the Irish.

The festivities will include bagpipers, beads, giveaways, & DJs.  To top it all off, there will be live music playing throughout the day!  The ShamRogues, as well as the Mike Leverone Duo, will set the mood with great Irish tunes all day.

Get ready for your St. Patty’s Day festivities with this beginner’s carving class. Students will learn how to stack, carve, and fondant a sculpted cake.  Participants will then airbrush the cake to make it look like a tall glass of Irish awesomeness.  You and your friends will be delighted to find this the morning after.  Everyone knows that cake is the best cure for a hangover!

The City of Gaithersburg, in partnership with the Harp and Shamrock Society, will host a Saint Patrick’s Day Parade at Washingtonian Center. The Parade includes state and local officials, Gaithersburg Police, Irish dancers, pipe bands, fire trucks, equestrian units, and much more.

Join in for the 3rd installment of “Wine Flights in Paradise, The Cabin Tasting Series”. Once a month, Paradise Springs will be offering guests the opportunity to take part in an intimate, seated, premium tasting set in the historical log cabin. Guests will have the opportunity to taste premium flights of wine along with a food paring for each selection. The theme for each tasting will change month to month. This month the theme is Library and Comparative Meritage Wines.

The City of Manassas celebrates St. Patrick’s Day each year with a community parade featuring Irish dance groups, the Northern Virginia Firefighters Emerald Society Pipe and Drum, Washington Scottish Pipe and Drum, Fairfax County Sheriff’s Coalition Pipe and Drum, the Marine Corps Color Guard and other area groups and organizations.
