The Newseum dedicates an entire exhibition to the exploits of anchorman Ron Burgundy and the Channel 4 Evening News team.

The Francophonie Cultural Festival features six weeks of concerts, theatrical performances, films, culinary tastings, literary salons, children’s workshops, and more in Washington DC. The nation’s capital will resonate with the vibrant sounds, sights, and tastes of the French-speaking in the largest Francophone festival in the world.

DC Beer Festival

The DC Beer Festival returns to Nationals Park, bringing together dozens of craft breweries and featuring spring seasonal beers.  The event will feature live music, games, DJs, some delicious beer and food. An admission includes unlimited tastings, with food sold separately.

District Flea is an outdoor market in the U Street area featuring a tightly-curated collection of antiques, vintage clothing, handmade furniture and jewelry, and delicious fresh food. A collaboration between local vendors and the folks that started Brooklyn Flea, District Flea hosts 100+ collectors, makers, and chefs from in and around DC, Baltimore, Philly, and New York.

During World War II, an unlikely team of soldiers was charged with identifying and protecting European cultural sites, monuments, and buildings from Allied bombing. Officially named the Monuments, they quickly became known as The Monuments Men. A showcase of World War II documents reveals the story behind the story.

DC Design House is an annual project that brings together Washington, DC’s top interior designers to transform and showcase a house using the best in today’s home renovation and design ideas. The proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Children’s National Health System.

Washington, DC welcomes the arrival of spring with the National Cherry Blossom Festival, a tradition that showcases the beautiful gift of 3,000 cherry trees that the city of Tokyo gave to our nation’s capital. The National Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual three-week, city-wide event featuring more than 200 international cultural performances and over 90 other special events. From arts and exhibits to cuisine and sports, there is something for everyone to enjoy! Do not adjust the color on your monitors for our Rainbow Animal Print cake.  This class isn’t for everyone, only the truly stylishly fabulous, and funky at heart.  Veteran decorator, Mary Smith, will host this class inside our world renowned bakery.  Students will receive a 6″ iced cake, and will learn how to fondant, airbrush a rainbow gradient, and hand paint animal print on to it.  Participants will also create a glittery topper out of gumpaste to adorn their cake.  

Bethesda Literary Festival

Each spring Downtown Bethesda hosts the annual Bethesda Literary Festival featuring local and national authors, journalists and poets, essay, short story and poetry contests, and children’s events. All events are free and are held throughout downtown Bethesda’s hotels, bookstores and community centers.

The Bay Bridge Boat Show kicks off the boating season each spring with a display of hundreds of new and late model brokerage boats and boat equipment displays. Attendees will learn about affordable, green small boats such as kayaks, canoes, inflatables, and day sailers. Introduction to boating seminars will be held several times each day providing answers on how to transcend into the sport of boating.

Virginia Events:

The race begins adjacent to Washington-Reid Elementary School, located on Dumfries Road/Route 234 located off exit 152B, in Prince William County, VA.
Time: Saturday, 7am
The 17.75K, named for the founding of the U.S. Marine Corps in 1775 is a unique distance of 11.03 miles run throughout scenic Prince William Forest Park. Although the course occurs mostly on paved roadways through the park, the 17.75K posts a challenge to participants traversing the park’s winding turns, some gravel paths and rolling hills within the densely populated forest.

Vendors from across the Mid-Atlantic region will offer a large selection of edible and flowering plants, along with garden art, tools, and other accessories. Other highlights of the market include a Small Standard Flower Show hosted by the National Capital Area’s District II Garden Clubs, and an exhibit of garden-themed paintings by local artists, both on display in River Farm’s Estate House. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer gardening questions, and fresh food and drinks will be available from Doug the Food Dude’s gourmet food truck.
