One more week until Halloween arrives, but all the spooky events are already here! In preparation for the ghostly holiday be sure to check out one (or more!) of the festive happenings. If Halloween isn’t your thing, don’t worry there are plenty of other festivals and shows sure to pique your interest!
Washington, DC Events:
Yard Park, Washington DC
Time: Sunday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm
Fashion Yards is back this fall with your favorite fashion trucks from the first event! This event will include even more trucks and retailers; so attendees can expect more menswear, shoes, accessories, and unique finds.
Washington International House Show 2014
Verizon Center, Washington DC
Time: Friday and Saturday from 7:00am to 10:30pm and Sunday from 7:00am to 4:00pm
The Washington International Horse Show is a championship event with approximately 600 horses and riders competing for championship titles and nearly half a million in prize money. Highlights include show jumpers, dancing dressage horses, classic equitation, hunters and barrel races, and terrier races. Exhibitions contribute to the fun atmosphere of the show and are always a big hit for riders and non-equestrians alike.
Nightmare on M Street
Dupont Circle, Washington DC
Time: Saturday from 5:00pm to 1:00am
The East Coast’s largest costume party returns for the 15th annual Nightmare on M Street Halloween Bar Tour! 2014 is going to be even bigger and better than ever, as the bar crawl expands the Nightmare to include your favorite Gallery Place bars in addition to the 30+ bars in Dupont! Attendees are encouraged to dress in costume as they enjoy food and drink specials at their favorite DC bars.
Boo at the Zoo
National Zoo, Washington DC
Time: Friday thru Sunday from 5:30pm to 8:30pm
Boo at the Zoo is a Washington DC Halloween tradition. The favorite not-so-spooky event is filled with more than 40 treat stations, animal demonstrations, keeper chats, decorated trails, and is fun for the whole family. Boo Treat Bags will be brimming with traditional chocolates, as well as good for you snacks, souvenirs, and more goodies at the end of the evening. Don’t forget your costume!
Colonial Players presents ‘A Few Good Men’
108 East St, Annapolis
Time: Saturday at 8pm or Sunday at 2:00pm and 7:30pm

The excitement of courtroom drama and the lively dialogue among Aaron Sorkin’s interesting, complex characters makes seeing this play a wonderful theatre experience. Two young marines have been charged with murder. They are defended by a trio of officers intent on learning the truth.
Special Historic Hauntings

Six Flags America Fright Fest

Experience Maryland’s most horrific Halloween event, Fright Fest, weekends September 27 – November 2. Six Flags America will unearth frightful fun for the entire family during our most popular event of the year. Enjoy the spookiness of Thrills by Day and the terror of Fright by Night! There is tons of family fun with Thrills by Day, noon to 6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday with Halloween-themed shows for the family and trick or treating for kids. Fright By Night when the sun goes down, the ghouls come out. Watch as the park transforms from “Thrills by Day” to “Fright by Night.”
Fall Harvest Family Days
Mount Vernon Estate, Mt Vernon VA

Each fall, Mount Vernon Estate welcomes the season with Fall Harvest Family Days. The weekend activities include horse-drawn wagon rides, wheat treading in the 16-sided barn, a straw bale maze, apple roasting, early-American games, music and demonstrations. Potomac River sightseeing cruises are offered at half-price during the weekend.
Marine Corps Marathon
The Pentagon, Arlington VA
Time: Sunday from 7:30am to 12:00pm
The Marine Corps Marathon presents the 39th running of the event on Sunday, Oct. 26. The 26.2 mile journey will begin in Arlington, VA and travel along spectacular National Park landscape throughout the nation’s capital to the finish on the Marine Corps War Memorial in Rosslyn, VA.
Falloween Market at Clarendon
Clarendon, Arlington VA
Time: Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm
Head to the Market Common at Clarendon for free fall fun and entertainment. Families and friends can enjoy three hours of trick-or-treating, a petting zoo, face painting, the Festive Photo Stop, pumpkin decorating, and much more, as well as some samplings from retailers. Musical performances from Mr. Knick Knack and Rocknoceros. Costumes are welcome!
Ghosts, Goblins & Ghouls Spooktacular
One Loudoun, Ashburn VA
Time: Saturday at 4:00pm
Grab your Halloween costume and enjoy a fun run 5k through decorated streets and central park at One Loudoun. Awards for best costume, food, prizes, and a Scarecrow Sprint for the kids will take place after the finish.
Fields of Fear
