Washington Craft Show

The annual Washington Craft Show features a wide variety of contemporary crafts including metal, leather, basketry, jewelry, ceramics, glass and more. The event is one of the nation’s leading events of contemporary craft, bringing together more than 190 accomplished craft artists; making it a perfect place to shop for unique gifts and decorative items!
Day of the Dead Masquerade and Fiesta
Embassy of Mexico
Time: Saturday from 8:30pm to 12:00am
Experience the wonders of the Mayan legends and celebrate Dia de los Muertos! The event will feature Mexican food and an open bar, Dia de los Muertos alter and ceremony, mariachi music, dance lessons, Masquerade contest, late night DJ, art gallery, film, and much more. There will also be a drawing to win a trip to Mexico! Black tie and masquerade optional.

The Yards will be transformed this Saturday into a spooky playground celebrating Day of the Dead. The event will include live music, roaming street performers, fortune tellers, face painters, lively mariachi bands, a beer garden, and celebrity “graveyard” tours.

National Museum of the American Indian
Time: Saturday-Sunday from 10:30am to 5:00pm
Join the museum for the annual Día de los Muertos celebration to commemorate the lives of the dearly departed and welcome the return of their spirits. Attendees can learn and take part in this centuries-old tradition. On Saturday, Sandra Cisneros discusses A Room of Her Own, a Day of the Dead-inspired installation opening on 10/31. On Sunday there will be a showing of a short documentary, La Ofrenda: The Days of the Dead, exploring the various meanings of the Day of the Dead and the history of this celebration in Mexican and Chicano heritage.
Capital Maritime Music Fest

The Capital Maritime Music Festival celebrates the people, music and folklore of long-overlooked nautical culture of the Chesapeake Bay, Potomac River and C&O Canal. Family-friendly activities include workshops, children’s activities and performances featuring the music, folklore and history of: sea warriors, merchant sailors, African-American sailors and dockworkers, recreational sailors, maritime communities, canals and inland waterways. The event will culminate with an evening concert.
