Can you believe the Thanksgiving holiday is almost here? This week, festive & fun Thanksgiving events have crept into the weekend happenings, so be sure to start your holidays just a little early and check one of them out!
Washington, DC Events:
Georgetown Waterfront, Washington DC
Time: Saturday at 12:30pm
Cost: $20-30 towards a donation of food supplies
Cranksgiving DC is an unique food drive on two wheels-it is part bike ride, part autism awareness ride, part food drive, part scavenger hunt. At Cranksgiving DC, cyclists from all over the DC metropolitan area will start at the Georgetown Waterfront and bike to each quadrant of the district to purchase pre-determined food items to donate to Miriam’s Kitchen, a non-profit that brings quality meals and services to the homeless of DC.
DC Craft Beer Festival
Washington Convention Center, Washington DC
Time: Saturday from 2pm-4:30pm or 7pm-9:30pm
The DC Craft Beer Festival is an American craft beer tasting event focusing on winter harvest editions from approximately 75 breweries from the DMV area. There will be approximately 150 selections and food from DC restaurants designed specifically to be consumed while tasting.
Beaujolais and Beyond 2014
French Embassy, Washington DC
Time: Friday from 8pm-11pm
Wine and food lovers, francophiles and party-goers: head to the Embassy of France for a live DJ, blind-tasting contest, trivia quiz, silent auction and a raffle drawing for round-trip tickets to Paris! The event will serve light fare from leading DC restaurants, accompanied by French breads, cheeses, pâtés and pastries. Guests will be treated to free-flowing Beaujolais Nouveau by Georges Duboeuf and a selection of wines from France.

The region’s must-see holiday attraction ICE! is back with an exciting new theme featuring Frosty the Snowman! The story of Frosty is brought to life in more than two million pounds of colorful ice. Patrons can walk through the classic Christmas story, slide down 2-story tall ice slides and watch artists as they create these frozen marvels in the live carving zone at the The Frostbite Factory.
Run for Shelter

Run for Shelter 10K, 5K and Fun Run promises to be a unique event you don’t want to miss! Held in association with Pacers Events, Run for Shelter is the only race in Alexandria dedicated to ending homelessness.
