Weekend Happenings in the DMV: January 16th thru 18th

With the weather warming up a bit just in time for the weekend, it’s the perfect time to get out and experience all that the DMV has to offer this weekend! From Ice Skating to Ice Bars there is certainly something for all ages and interests.

Washington, DC Events:

Ice Yards at Yards Parkice yards

Time: Saturday from 2pm-6pm
Cost: FREE, ages 21+
After the success of the popular Splash Yards, The Yards is bringing it back – but with ice! This event transforms the park into a winter wonderland complete with ice bars, hot tubs and fire pits. The action-packed days’ activities will include: Ice Bars and Cocktails, Frosty Beer Garden, Adult Snow Cones, Outdoor Fire Pits, Hot Tubs, Ice Sculptures, Interactive Winter-themed Video Games, DJ and Live Music, and much more.

The 10th annual Macedonian Old New Year’s Masquerade Vasilica Celebration celebrates the traditional Macedonian holiday that commemorates both the feast day of St. Basil and New Year’s Day according to the Julian calendar. Join the Macedonian tradition and dress up in costumes, for music and dancing!

The MLK Peace-Walk and Parade celebrates the life and legacy of the American inspiration, Martin Luther King Jr. This annual parade commemorates the historic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. After the celebration, enjoy a wide range of tributes to MLK’s legacy at events throughout D.C.

The Cathedral will host a celebration to honor the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and continue his vision through music and poetry presented by the Cathedral and DC’s performing arts community. Attendees are asked to bring a new children’s book or non-perishable food item to donate.
