Why We “Go Red”

Did you know…
1 in every 3 women dies from heart disease each year?

With such a startlingly high number, Go Red for Women by the American Heart Association decided to take a stand and make a difference.

Founded in 2004, Go Red has been providing women of all ages with information on how they can take charge of their destiny and live a heart healthy life to prevent heart disease.

As a predominantly female company, we have taken a special interest in women’s health, wellness and prevention. So, this week, Charm City Concierge went red!

Each day this past week, information on ways to live a heart healthy life was posted to our various social media outlets leading up to today – National Wear Red Day! If you missed it, check out our Facebook and Twitter pages or visit goredforwomen.org.

To sum up this week’s information, here is the take home message:

G: GET YOUR NUMBERS—Ask your doctor to check your blood pressure and cholesterol.
O: OWN YOUR LIFESTYLE—Stop smoking, lose weight, exercise, and eat healthy. It’s up to you. No one can do it for you.

R: REALIZE YOUR RISK—We think it won’t happen to us, but heart disease kills one in three women.
E: EDUCATE YOUR FAMILY—Make healthy food choices for you and your family. Teach your kids the importance of staying active.
D: DON’T BE SILENT—Tell every woman you know that heart disease is our No. 1 killer. Raise your voice at GoRedForWomen.org

As women, we need to stick together. Go Red for Women decided to take a stand against Heart Disease. Will you?
