Weekend Happenings: May 15th-17th

The temperature is supposed to spike just in time for the weekend and with the warmer weather moving in, it’s the perfect time to get out of the house and attend one of the hot events happening all across the DMV.

Washington, DC Events:

Fiesta Asia

Fiesta Asia is a street fair celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The event showcases Asian art and culture with live performances by musicians, vocalists and performance artists, Pan-Asian cuisine, martial arts and lion dance demonstration, a multicultural marketplace, cultural displays and interactive activities.

Dragon Boat Festival

The Washington DC Dragon Boat Festival is a two day festival held along the Potomac River complete with cultural exhibitions, craft demonstrations, and dragon boat racing.

Civil War Anniversary Parade

Time: Sunday, 12-4pm
America marks the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War with a parade in Washington DC. Join 6-10,000 marchers, and spectators in viewing this commemoration of the Grand Review of the Armies.

Truckeroo is a monthly festival held April thru October showcasing 20+ food trucks from the Washington, D.C. area. Enjoy a kid and adult friendly event with live entertainment, friendly faces, sunny days and a wide variety of great cuisine!

The American Lamb Jam is an epic tasting event and competition. The event includes 16 of the most talented chefs from the DC area, beer and wine from DC’s top breweries and winemakers, an interactive photo booth, DIY lamb spice rub station, and butcher demonstrations.

Catonsville Historical Society Home & Garden Tour

Cost: $25 for members; $30 for non-members
The Catonsville Historical Society’s 2015 house and garden tour will feature seven private homes and a peak into the grounds and dwelling of the nuns at the All Saints Priory, a convent located near the end of Hilton Ave. Some of the houses are within walking distance to each other, but organizers say most participants will need to drive between stops. Food and drinks from Atwater’s and Scittino’s Italian Market will be available for purchase.

55th Annual Fair Hill Scottish Games

This is one of the premier festivals in the region with over 50 competitors and performers from around the world who compete in music, dancing, athletic, and other events. Featured performers are Albannach, Searson, Charlie Zahm & Carl Peterson.

Chesapeake Bay Blues Festival

Check out this all day concert featuring a variety of performers. There will be a concert stage with Jumbo Tron, food and drink vendors, beer and wine, beach and lawn seating. Event will be held rain or shine!

Baltimore Farmer’s Market & Bazaar

Baltimore’s farmer’s market and bazaar is open for the season! There will be a huge variety of items available for purchase including fruits and vegetables, baked goods, dairy products, and dozens of food vendors! Vegan food items will be available.

Fair Trade Clothing Trunk Show
