Festival season has arrived! The DMV has tons of great festivals, fairs and events over the summer for people of all interests—food and drink, literature, art and crafts, music, and anything else you can think of!
With all the happenings, it’s hard to keep track… so we’ve done the research for you!
Since the season boasts so many events, we had to break it up! We started with last month with May’s events and will continue posts throughout the summer months… Up next is June.
Fairfax County Government Center
Date: Friday – Sunday, 6/5-7
The Celebrate Fairfax Festival is NoVA’s largest annual community-wide celebration featuring live entertainment including a variety of music, carnival rides, children’s activities, a community market place, and nightly fireworks.
Great Grapes: MD Wine & Food Festival
Oregon Ridge Park
Hunt Valley, MD
Date: Saturday & Sunday, 6/6-7
Cost: $28 online, $33 at the gate
Great Grapes has grown to be Baltimore’s premier wine festival with hundreds of wines available for tasting. Take your souvenir tasting glass as you enter the festival and while tasting and sampling the rich heritage of Maryland vines. As you sip and savor the afternoon, relax in the beautiful setting of the Oregon Ridge Park.
Taste of Wheaton
Grandview Ave. & Reedie Dr.
Downtown Wheaton, MD
Date: Thursday – Sunday, 6/7
Cost: $1-5 per “taste”
Taste of Wheaton is an annual food festival offering samples from local restaurants, cooking demonstrations, a craft beer garden, live musical performances and kids activities. There will be live music and entertainment along with children’s activities such as caricature drawings, balloon artists, and arts and crafts.
DC Jazz Festival
Date: Wednesday – Tuesday, 6/10-16
The DC Jazz Festival features more than 100 jazz concerts at various venues throughout DC. Jazz acts from the around the world participate in the festival. The festival is even more diverse this year, with hip-hop, soul and pop influences.
Date: Saturday & Sunday, 6/13-14
HonFest is a local Baltimore tradition. The Bawlmer term of endearment, Hon, short for Honey, embodies the warmth and affection bestowed upon our neighbors and visitors alike by historic working-women of Baltimore. HonFest is an annual celebration in honor of these women.

Date: Sunday, 6/14
The 33rd Annual Celebrate! Gaithersburg Festival will include multiple stages of live entertainment, food, and themed activity areas for all ages and interests.
Taste of Reston
Reston Town Center
Date: Friday & Saturday, 6/19-20
Taste of Reston is the largest and best outdoor food festival in the area! Join in for two days of restaurants and community vendors, live entertainment, a carnival, a Wine ‘n Dine area, and the Family Fun Zone!
Northern Virginia Brewfest
Bull Run Regional Park
Date: Saturday & Sunday, 6/20-21
Cost: $25 online, $35 at the gate
At NoVA BrewFest, more than 60 breweries will feature their best American style beers! The festival highlights the intricacies of each particular beer, how beer is made and how to brew your own. A variety of foods will be available for purchase that compliment and entertainment includes live music and children’s activities.
Manassas Jazz & Wine Festival
Manassas Museum Lawn
Date: Sunday, 6/21
Cost: $30 online, $35 at the gate
The Manassas Wine and Jazz Festival allows attendees to relax on the Pavilion lawn in Old Town Manassas with a wine and lunch from the gourmet food concessions. All while listening to live jazz performances from jazz pianist Marcus Johnson, vibraphonist Joe Baione, and saxophone player John Kocur with their bands.
Smithsonian Folk Life Festival
Date: Wednesday – Sunday, 6/24-28
The annual Folk Life Festival, celebrates several US and foreign cultures each year. This year’s focus is on Peru’s unique connections through cooking and craft demonstrations, music and dance performances, ritual and celebratory processions, and discussions.
Alexandria Food & Wine Festival
Oronoco Bay Park
Date: Saturday 6/27
Cost: $15 for food tickets, $20 for wine
The Alexandria Food & Wine Festival is an annual event that transforms into a lively showcase of local food and wine with a full day of entertainment including music, arts and craft exhibits and children activities. Local restaurants will compete for the best appetizer, the best main course and the best dessert.

LatinoFest is a music filled weekend featuring live Latin music including salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, reggaeton, and mariachi. Dancers in colorful costumes from their native lands, salsa dancing and the hottest Latino DJs, Arts and Crafts displays, Latino cuisine and more family fun are also on the menu!
National Capital BBQ Battle
Pennslyvania Ave (between 9th & 14th)
Date: Saturday & Sunday, 6/27-28
Cost: $12 online, $15 at the gate
The National Capital Barbecue Battle is an annual competition between top BBQ restaurants from the DC area and the country. Enjoy food samples, cooking demonstrations, interactive displays and children’s activities and live entertainment including 30 rock, R&B, jazz, and blues bands.
