Festival season isn’t slowing down anytime soon! With all the happenings, it’s hard to keep track… so we’ve done the research for you.
Since the season boasts so many events, we had to break it up. Here are the fairs, festivals and more going on in August:
Fairfax County 4-H Fair
Frying Pan Park Farm
Date: Thursday – Sunday, 7/30-8/2
Annual Fairfax County 4-H Fair is old-fashioned country fun with carnival games, rides, animal shows, 4-H exhibits, live entertainment, fair food and more! Attendees can enjoy a free concert, a Big Truck show, watch the Tractor Pull, and check out exhibits, animal shows, and more.
Friendship Firehouse Festival
Friendship Firehouse Museum
Date: Saturday, 8/1
The Friendship Firehouse Festival is an annual family summer event celebrating the role that firefighters have played throughout history. The festival features antique fire apparatus, craft booths, and displays by Alexandria merchants. Children receive free fire helmets and balloons and are able to ride as “co-passengers” inside the City’s fire trucks.
Arlington County Fair

Date: Wednesday – Sunday, 8/5-9
The Arlington County Fair is a summer family event complete with carnival rides, live animal shows, musical entertainment, arts and craft exhibits, and a variety of international foods.
Festival Latino de Maryland
Date: Sunday, 8/9
Cost: $25 online, $35 at the gate
Festival Latino is Maryland’s premiere festival featuring a number of bands, food & beverage vendors, and more. The event unites the Hispanic community with music, food and entertainment. Voted the best Latino festival the past two years—so get tickets early!
The Plaza at Tysons Corner
Date: Friday – Sunday, 8/14-16
The Vietfest is an outdoor festival that showcases the best of Vietnamese culture, talent, business, and people. The festival also includes cultural cuisines and vendors, exhibits, entertainment, Miss Vietfest Pageant, various fun competitions, a children’s carnival, and more.
Montgomery County Agricultural Fair
Montgomery County Fairgrounds
Date: Friday – Sunday, 8/14-22
The Montgomery County Agricultural Fair, the largest county fair in the State of Maryland, is a family event with carnival rides, live animals, a variety of entertainment, food and fun activities. There will be tons of vendors with goods available for purchase and live entertainment including Monster Trucks, Demolition Derby, “Fair’s Idol” Competition, and much more.
Prince William County Fair

Date: Friday – Sunday, 8/14-22
The Prince William County Fair dates back to 1949 and today is Virginia’s largest County Fair. The annual event in Manassas, Virginia includes livestock exhibits, a variety of midway shows, truck and tractor pulls, Monster Trucks, Lawnmower Racing, a rodeo, demolition derbies, baby contests, pet shows, live music, storytelling, games and carnival rides.
Hot August Music Festival
Oregon Ridge Park
Date: Saturday, 8/15
The Hot August Musica Festival is an annual blues & roots festival that includes local and national acts along with food, jewelry and craft vendors. This year’s lineup includes Counting Crows, Punch Brothers, Railroad Earth, Shakey Graves, and more.
Feast of St. Gabriel Italian Festival
St. Leo’s Church in Little Italy
Date: Saturday – Sunday, 8/15-16
Cost: $1 donation
The feast of St. Gabriel Italian Festival is held in the streets of Little Italy. The festival begins with a traditional street procession with the Knights of Columbus Color Guard, a band, and community dignitaries. The festival will also include food, wine, beer, games, contests and tournaments, music, and much more.
Fiore Winery Annual Art, Jazz & Wine Festival
Date: Saturday, 8/22
Join Fiore Winery for the annual festival that features local artists and craft vendors, an array of foods, winery and vineyard tours, wine making, live jazz, and more. This is the biggest event of the year—so be sure to bring your chairs and blankets for picnicing!
Maryland Renaissance Festival
Date: Saturday – Sunday, 8/29-10/25
Each year, the Maryland Renaissance Festival recreates a 16th century English village with crafts, food, live performances on 8 stages, a jousting arena and lots of games. The family fun event, includes jousting, jugglers and magicians, live music and choral groups, along with a variety of food outlets and craft shops.
