Summer of Service: Washington, DC

With summer finally upon us, why not spend your sunny days enjoying the weather while supporting a good cause?

Below are a few community events and organizations you might be interested in working with during the coming months – many of which will not only help improve your own well-being, but give a big boost to those who need it.

Love animals? Consider joining a team striving to ensure a loving home for every unwanted animal, affordable medical care for every sick or injured animal, an end to animal abuse and cruelty, and stronger bonds between animals and people through education and training.

Stretch 4 Vets

Saturday, July 23rd, 8-9am
Navy Memorial, Washington, DC

This event hosts between 1000-2000 participants including yogis, reservists, active military and veterans who will raise funds by collecting pledge money for their 60-75-minute practice at the Navy Memorial in Washington, DC.

Funds raised will support Embrace’s programs that serve disabled veterans (Healing Our Heroes’ Homes – H3) which remodels the homes of disabled veterans.

NVRDC’s Cornhole for a Cause

Do you have what it takes to be the next Cornhole for a Cause Champion? Join NVRDC, Monocacy Brewing Company, and the American University Wellness Center for their 4th annual cornhole tournament!

Proceeds from the event will go directly towards NVRDC’s comprehensive, holistic services for crime victims in DC.
